Profile Synopsis:

With over 34 years of hands-on management of human resources with prominent Indian and global corporates, Sandip Grover is amongst India’s leading thinkers and practitioners of human resource management, sustainability and social engagement. Trained by Aon Hewitt, he has been on Korn-Ferry’s panel of Assessors for running Assessment Centers. Prof Wayne Brockbank of the Michigan Ross School of Management, USA, has also trained him in strategic HR.

Work Experience (30 years)

Beginning with Philips, Mr. Grover’s work folio has included Honda (Head Plant HR), Singer (Head HR – India operations), Triveni Oilfield (Head – HR), Federal Mogul Corporation (Head Plant HR) & Welspun Group (President & Group Head – HR and CSR).

Mr. Grover’s expertise in human resource leadership, strategy, planning & implementation at multiple levels of the organizations has been widely recognized. He has handled all aspects of HR & IR in corporate offices as well as Plants. His last organization provided ample opportunities during his 10 years tenure wherein he was able to contribute effectively. Starting as HR head for a group company, he rose to become the Group CHRO managing 27000 employees worldwide with over 5000 white collared employees.

In his earlier experience with Federal Mogul Corporation, where he served for over 7 years – he was picked up to act as an Interim CEO for a brief period of 3 months, during a turbulent time in the organization.

His active involvement in plant level assignments such as handling strikes and De- Registration of Union (at Raigad , Maharashtra), Gheraos or downsizing over 700 Blue collared & white collared employees (without a single hour loss and with highest productivity ever in the final month) to being officiating Plant COO of Federal Mogul, has provided businesses with a unique practical perspective on how to lead and nourish a business’s most valuable asset – its human capital.

Notably Theatre Based Learning was used in a major way to bring home this important cultural change at the group level.

He was a member of the Gujarat government’s Committee on Technical Education & headed CII –western Region Committee on Waste Management.

Other Achievements:

Mr. Grover spearheaded the successful cultural integration of two acquisitions, one of them an Aditya Birla Group Company, with the parent group. His HR, OD, and employee engagement initiatives are custom-built business environment (evolution-stage and need-based) solutions rather than one-size-fits-all quick fixes.

In the CSR space, he was responsible for running 8 Women Empowerment Centers in the Kutchh region comprising of 250+ women, working with over 60 Govt. schools with 42 para teachers to improve the quality of education with the help of smart classes, Adult Education Centers, Balwadis, Mobile Health Vans, Micro Finance and Rags to Rugs Center. Besides this, he was looking after a CBSE affiliated school having 1600+ students and over 70 teaching staff. He has helped bringing in quantifiable objectives to the area of CSR in the Group. He was awarded the Police Commissioner Medal for his contribution.

He was invited by the Eastern Institute of Management, New Zealand, to speak at an international conference, ICBM, in Bangkok, on Cultural Integration. Besides, he has conducted workshops in USA, UK, Saudi Arabia, Ghana, Senegal & Sri Lanka. Articles and interviews featuring Mr. Grover have appeared in prominent publications such as the Economic Times, Times of India, Mumbai; Mint, Business & Economics; Business Manager; and 4Ps.

He has also written a book Incredible HR to share his vast experience with the fraternity.
